The Second International scientific and practical conference "Archives. History. Modernity"

On 3-4 September 2015 in Odessa was held the Second International scientific and practical conference "Archive. History. Modernity" dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the State Archives of Odessa Region. The event was held under the patronage of the Odessa Regional State Administration, State Archival Service of Ukraine, Odessa Regional Council and Odessa City Council in the premises of the Odessa branch of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture, Odessa Literary Museum, Odessa Historical Museum, Odessa Art Museum, with the support of the Union of Artists "Bereg Ovidiya", Odessa Regional Institute of Public Administration, companies "Incor Group", "Interhim", "Nibulon", Scientific and Production enterprise "Niva" and cafe "Olympian"; infotainment support was provided by TV company "Grad", Odessa Regional State Broadcasting Company and TV Channel "Pervij Horodskoy".

The II International Scientific Conference was attended by over 80 scientists from Ukraine (Cherkasy, Illichivsk, Kirovograd, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Lutsk, Mykolaiv, Odessa, Poltava, Prylymanske,), Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Moldova and Poland. The opening conference, plenary and breakout sessions were attended by representatives of scientific, educational, cultural and educational institutions and organizations, historians, students, community leaders, veterans of archival sphere.

 

 

Opening of the conference on 3 September took place in Odessa Literary Museum. Presidium included Vladimir Levchuk, Director of the State Archives of Odessa Region, Liliya Belousova, Ph.D., Deputy Director of the State Archives, Elena Ksendzyk, Deputy Director and special guests - representatives of the Odessa Regional State Administration Julia Marushevska and Odessa Regional Council Peter Hlytsov.

 

 

With opening remarks performed Tatyana Liptuga, Director of the Odessa Literary Museum; Stephen Vidnyansky, Member of National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of History, Professor; Vadim Khmarsky, Vice Rector of Odessa I.I.Mechnikov National University, Doctor of History, Professor; Vyacheslav Kushnir, Dean of the Faculty of History of Odessa I.I.Mechnikov National University, Doctor of History, Professor; Ion Varta, Director of the State Archival Service of the Republic of Moldova, Doctor of Science; Tomasz Ciesielski, Director of the Institute of History of the University of Opole, Ph.D.; Igor Sapozhnikov , Doctor of History, Professor; Vladimir Kovtun, Director of the Museum of Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Odessa Region; Lydia Kovalchuk, Chairman of the Public Council at the State Archives, Director of the Odessa Academic Center of Minor Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, PhD, Associate Professor; Volodymyr Malchenko, veteran of the archival sphere, former director of the State Archives.

 

 

During the opening ceremony was demonstrated the movie of Leonid Sidorsky "Odessa. Fantasy"; presentation of new editions of the State Archives of Odessa Region and the exhibition of unique documents from the collections of Archives about writers, poets and playwrights issued "They were born in Odessa ...".

On September 3 the work of the conference was continued in the Golden Hall of Odessa Literary Museum at the plenary session. On September 4, with the support of friends and partners of the State Archives of Odessa Region were held breakout sessions: "Archival Sphere: Experience and Prospects" (Odessa Branch of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture), "Ethnic and Social Reconstruction on the Archival Materials" (Odessa Museum of Local History), "Archival Sources on the History of Literature and Art" (Odessa Art Museum), "Science, Education, Technology and Architecture in Archival Documents" (Odessa Literary Museum).

 

 

The final session of the Second International Scientific Conference was held on September 4 at the premises of the Odessa branch of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture during which was reviewed the work of the sections, participants were rewarded with name certificates and memorable souvenirs.

 

 

As a result of the conference was decided to publish an edition of the proceedings of the conference and hold the Third International Scientific Conference "Archives. History. Modernity" in 2020 in Odessa on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the State Archives of Odessa Region.
